Ask around Middletown long enough and you will hear a few names come up again and again when people talk about insurance: Curabba. Archibald Taylor. Reineke. For most of the last century, these were three separate agencies, each one built by people who knew their neighbors, insured their neighbors, and stood by their neighbors when something went wrong.
Today, they are one agency. This is that story.
What Happens When an Agency Gets Sold
Insurance agencies change hands more often than people realize. Across Orange County and other communities in the Hudson Valley, this has played out the same way many times. A retiring owner sells to a large national broker. The local name that families relied on for generations gets replaced with a logo you have seen on a billboard somewhere else. The new owner does not know your street, your flood zone, or the contractor who just put a new roof on the house down the block. You become a policy number in a call center queue instead of a name someone recognizes when you walk through the door.
That is not what happened here.
Built by Combining, Not Erasing
Over the last 11 years, Curabba Agency has grown by bringing three respected local agencies together, one at a time: Curabba-Francisco, Inc. in 2015, Archibald Taylor, Inc. in 2019, and Reineke Inc. in 2021. Each of these agencies had already spent decades serving Middletown and the surrounding area before they became part of Curabba.
We kept the Curabba name because it is a link to that history. But we did not just keep the name and call it a day. We brought in modern technology and updated the way we work behind the scenes, while holding on to the thing that made all three of these agencies successful in the first place: real relationships with the people they served.

Led by Someone Who Chose Middletown
Greg Hogan, the current owner of Curabba Agency, grew up in Middletown and started his insurance career in the home office of a large regional insurer. After two years behind a desk, he knew he wanted to work with clients face-to-face instead of processing their files from a distance. In 1990, he came home to Middletown and began working as a life and health insurance agent.
In 1997, Greg added a license to write property and casualty insurance, which covers things like home, auto, and workers compensation coverage. He worked as a producer at a local agency before buying his first one, Curabba-Francisco, in 2015. Archibald Taylor followed in 2019, and Reineke in 2021.
More than three decades after he first walked into a Middletown office, Greg is still here, still local, and still building an agency around the same idea he started with: insurance works best when it is handled by someone who actually knows you.
